Playground Adventures

One of our adventures over the long weekend was to the playground down the street. The little chiefs had lots of fun running around all the playground equipment.. check it out!

We started off with a little tic-tac-toe game.. Beans was up first... 

"Alright... I'm gonna pick..... this one... thanks for the spot Pops..."

"Let's see Beans... that was an excellent move but I think I'm going to moooove..... this... one..... "

Then Beans has to play the little watch dog .... 

..followed by Frank who decided to 'bark without a purpose' (as we call it...)

Then we climbed up to the top to check out the slide!

Fritz & Freida Monday

Frank & Beans had a busy Saturday! We started off with a dog-park-play-date with Brinkley! I'm not sure why I didn't get any pictures but Frank had a GREAT time..
Beans was a little more stressed. He doesn't do as well around a lot of other dogs... and must have KNOWN what we were doing on the drive down... Here he is, mentally preparing for the event...

After the dog-park-play-date we took a walk and got some coffee at a little coffee/wine bar while the dogs chilled and just looked cute (and got MANY compliments from people passing by). As we were walking home we heard some barking from a lighting shop... Who do we find inside?? THESE GUYS!!

Meet Fritz & Freida (sp?)!! Fritz & Freida are brothers & sister long-haired doxies who were visiting the lighting shop for the day!

 "My name is Frank! I'm a long-haired-dapple-dachshund. Who are you?"

There was so much excitement going on.. Frank could hardly contain himself.  The dogs were going so crazy I could barely get a good picture!

We did a little intro with Beans... he did OK. We even saw his tail wagging when he met Freida.... we think he might have had a thing for Freida... (of course didn't get a good picture of that either :(

Tuesday Trip to the Park!

We had such nice weather yesterday that we couldn't NOT go out for a walk and hang out at the park!!

The boys were PUMPED... although the park was filled with too many other dogs so we had to stay on our leashes...

Beans also enjoyed doing one of his favorite spring activities...

We also spent a lot of time looking at the other dogs. Frank & Beans were very focused on seeing who was out and about at the park... who was wearing what leash ... what collar.. you know, the typical neighborhood-park-talk...

" Beans, can you believe that boxer left the house with a leash looking like THAT"

"I know, Frank, such a tragedy.. a pink polka-dot leash with a green striped collar" :: sigh :: 

By the time we got home we probably hit over 2 miles on our walk, so the little chiefs sure were tuckered out! Here's to more good weather!! 

New Park in the Neighborhood

We found a new park!

Ok it's not really a park but more of a playground.. and it's still under construction.

A new school was built down the road from us, and on a recent walk (after meeting a special somebunny) we discovered that they have not one but TWO fenced in play grounds. One for kindergardeners and one for older kids. They're both still under construction but we snuck in and ran around for a little bit...

Since we don't have a fenced in yard, any opportunity we have to let the boys loose we go for it (let's just say we have a lot of cats, squirrels, bunnies and DEER in our backyard.. and the chiefs LOOOOVE to chase animals... we've learned). One of our other favorite spots is what we call "Frank's Park" ... because it's so big that we can let the chiefs loose knowing there's not really anything else around.

It didn't last too long though, because this came at the end of a long walk (2.25 miles!!).

AND THEN we found this.... (remember those playground toys where you throw a ball in a basket and it comes out one of 4 holes??)

Yep.. we did....

Happy First Day of Spring!
You know what Beans favorite part of spring is??

 HE CAN ROLL AROUND IN THE GRASS!!

This is by far one of Beans favorite outdoor activities (aside from barking at all the other dogs/squirrels/birds in sight).
Of course we don't have very spring-like weather at the moment, but hopefully it will warm up soon so we can get lots of good outdoor pictures.

Floppy Ear'ed Fun

So while it's not an actual video of them, I wanted to share a little .gif I made of Frank & Beans at the park the other day...

Sunday afternoon at the park

It was such a nice day yesterday that we couldn't help but spend some time at the park!
When we've gone in the past Beans hasn't been much for chasing toys, but this time he was all over it!

We brought one of Frank's favorite squeaky toys and let Beans have at it. We threw it across the soccer field and called him to bring it back. It took a few tries but he got the hang of how to carry it back without dropping. He was having blast!

{he wore his Thunder Shirt because let's just say Beans has been pretty nervous lately when we go out.. he doesn't mind and seems a lot calmer in it when its on. We call it his "confidence shirt" ... }

Frank on the other hand is a seasoned PRO at playing fetch at the park.

And then it was time to play fetch with both boys at the same time.
Ready... set..... GO!

Mr. Ed

It's supposed to be really nice this weekend, so maybe we can take a trip to the park.
Reminds me of the time about a year ago that we took Frank to a park...

Ok so maybe Frank isn't THAT interested... but oh well. I'm sure he had a good time.

Sunday at the park

Yesterday was a beautiful day outside, so what better way to spend a nice Sunday afternoon than at the park with good ol' Frank & Beans?

We did a couple of laps around the park, after which Frank showed off some of his gymnastics skillz and muscles by doing pullups on one of the playground bars. 

 "48 ..... 49 .... 50! ... Piece of cake!"

"I've go more power than A-Rod!"

All Beans could do was watch ...

"Whhoah.. he's so high up!!"

Then we found a baseball batting practice cage and decided to let Frank practice for the {hopfully?} upcoming wiener dog race at the Cincinnati Cyclones hockey game (that he ALMOST won last year).

 "I'm even faster than A-Rod..."

We also let Beans try it out but he's not as speedy as Frank, and mostly enjoys trotting along.

"Me too!"

On the drive home both boys were worn OUT... as demonstrated by Beans here...

Frank & Beans the Firemen

So on one of our walks this weekend we went to a park down the street. At the park was a little firetruck on the playground for kids to play on. OF COURSE we (Ok... I) had to try and get the boys to pretend to be firemen on this little play apparatus. 

FAIL

"Come on boys! Pretend like you're driving the fire truck! It's for your website!!"

ugh... 

So while these little men did not want to cooperate, I did cute a little cooperation as I got in for a closer shot...

"Ok Beans, I'm going to take a left turn up here, can you check my blind spot on my right side for me? ... Thanks Man"

Cheers to a 3-day weekend!

Hey guys we made it through another week! YAY! Time for a 3-day weekend!
Frank is here to show you one of his favorite weekend activities - visiting a park! (especially one with water!!)

Dog Park Adventures

We are back from our long weekend away! We sure missed Frank & Beans while we were gone, and are hoping they thought of us a few times too (of course in between having parties with the neighborhood dogs, drinking all the beer in our fridge etc...).

Last Sunday we all took a little trip downtown to attend the official "leash cutting" for the new dog park at Washington Park.
Frank & Beans had a GREAT time exploring around....

They met some fellow doxies...

Both humans and dogs had so much fun! It was pretty crowded there with lots of other dogs for the opening celebration. We are all looking forward to heading back there very soon, maybe when its a little less crowded so the little guys can have a more freedom to roam. Stay tuned!
