Ice Cream Treat

Another part of Beans birthday celebration was a trip to the ice cream shop down the street. We took the boys on a walk, got ourselves a treat AND a treat for the pups!
Since we were celebrating Beans birthday, Beans got to go first...

Veggie Tales

Whenever we're in the kitchen cooking up vegetables, we try to let the chiefs try them out too. Their personal favorites lately are green beans, broccoli & carrots!! These guys eat their veggies like their treats... little do they know it's a healthy treat!!
Up today... steamed broccoli!! 

Frank took his piece of broccoli and ran into the living room with it. Beans, on the otherhand, decided to share his broccoli eating experience with everyone!

And yes we found little broccoli pieces in his beard afterwards.... poor guy...

Frank's special birthday treat

I mentioned last week in Frank's birthday recap about another special treat Frank (& Beans) had... here it is

PUPSICLES!!

What are 'pupsicles' you ask? Chicken broth (+ a little more water) frozen with a treat stick in the middle! {In this case the treat sticks are "Organic Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Recipe Sticks" ... yuuummmm}. Popped 'em in the freezer for a couple hours.. and BAM... pupsicle... 

 The pupsicle for Beans had a slight.. uh.. issue...... as if that was really going to matter... 

A perfect treat for a hot day, especially after a nice, long walk! 

After Frank got his pupsicle... he went to TOWN on it...

Beans really enjoyed his, too!!

Ever since they had their pupsicles... every time we go outside on the patio they HAVE to stop and lick these spots .... chicken flavored pavers I guess... yummmm

I think we'll be making a lot of these this summer...

When life hands you a lemon cake box...

I was looking through some pictures from last year and came across these. We had bought a frozen cake and threw the box on the floor to put in the recycling bin later. While we were eating the cake in the other room and heard a noise in the kitchen...

Someone seemed to be having some issues...

"I'm going to try some of this too... it smells DELICIOUS.. it's got to be in here somewhere"

"Whoopsies.. "

"Ugh.. what was that..."

"Hmm...Maybe I'll just take this in the other room"

"Awww maan!! Wasn't me! It was her!!!"

 Unfortunately for Frank there was nothing in the box.. poor guy :(

Bird Seed Sampling

So last summer, Frank & Beans decided they wanted to see what it was like to be a bird...

... and they ate Rudy's food...

They found the bucket of pellets on a low shelf and decided to help themselves.
Frank & Beans were so proud of their accomplishments at first.. and then it set in ....

Beans wasn't really phased by the whole experience ... but lets just say Frank was hurtin' later that day .... and the next...

Yes, he was actually laying in his cage like this afterwards...

Thanksgiving Recap

We hosted Thanksgiving at our place this year and it turned out great! Lots of delicious food and lots and lots of delicious leftovers.
OF COURSE over the course of the afternoon while we were cooking, Frank was RIGHT by my side playing quality control/dropped food cleaner-upper.... kinda like this:

Unfortunately for him, not much food was dropped for him to clean up...

BUT, lucky for Frank & Beans, they got their own Thanksgiving feast!

 Turkey, carrots, green beans, corn and a little bit of gravy

Frank couldn't wait to dig in... (yep.. we sat him at the table....)

Beans took his time... savoring every minute... 

....in his hat!!!

...and then we finished off the evening with some movies. Well.. someone didn't really see much of the movies....

Trick or Treat recap

Because it was so cold and rainy last night for Halloween, we stayed inside instead of taking the boys out for a little trick-or-treat walk (we had .. 5 trick or treaters, only 3 of which were actual kids.. whatever...).

Dressed in their costumes (OF COURSE!) the little men got their own Halloween treat!
These are little cookies from Pet Wants, a local pet food store in Cincinnati. When I saw these little treats I couldn't resist. Of course we have a cupboard full of a few other fun treats we hope to bust out soon too (so stay tuned!)

The only 'decent' pictures I have is of Beans eating his cookie. Frank's was gone in maybe 10 seconds.. that treat didn't stand a chance. All his pictures are a giant blur!

Happy Birthday Ben!

On Saturday we celebrated Ben's birthday (which was yesterday). I spent all day in the kitchen baking this delicious chocolate cake for him...

 JUST KIDDING! I wish I could claim that cake, but unfortunately it is a Whole Foods original titled "Chocolate Dream".
After going out to dinner with friends we came back to enjoy some of this deliciousness. What birthday celebration isn't complete without a visit from Frank & Beans? Clearly Beans has no clue what a "Chocolate Dream" cake is (and good for him because he should never find out!)

 

"Hmm... I'm not too sure about this one..."

Frank on the other hand knew exactly what this was (he was going nuts over it from the minute I walked in the door with this cake). Let's just say Frank has taken it upon himself to discover what chocolate is and  LOOOVES it (despite the fact that its SO bad for him.. even deadly... more postings on that some time in the future ;) ) I could barely hold onto him for a picture!

 

"C'mon! C'mon! Just a little bit closer and I can nose-dive right into it!!"

I must say we've got quite the party animals, too - because here are Mr. Frank & his sidekick Sir Beans all tuckered out the next day!! Or.. at least Beans is. I think Frank is still trying to figure out how he can get on top of the island in the kitchen to finish off the remaining cake....

Peanut Butter Pup

Frank is like his momma.. he LOVES peanut butter. Every now and then I'll give him a little bit in his Kong to play with (Beans is getting there... at first he wasn't too sure about this but he's starting to become a fan!).
The last time we finished a jar up I gave it to Frank to lick clean (there wasn't much left so I knew this would only last a few minues).

He wastes NO time and takes the jar from my hand, runs off with it and wedges it between one of his pillows and blankets (gotta stabilize the jar for easy access DUH!!).

"Best day EVER!"

When he senses Beans is approaching he does the only logical thing to keep his peanut butter treat safe... Takes it to the comforts of his cage!

When it ws all said and done (about 2-3 minutes later when we decided he'd had enough) he was one happy pup.

"Do I have anything on my whiskers??"

We're almost through with another jar (like I said... I love my PB...). Maybe we'll give Beans a shot at that jar... stay tuned!

Beans Birthday Recap

Little Man Beans has a birthday a while back (on July 11 he turned the big 5!). Here is a recap of his birthday (an ice cream treat!).
He was pretty scared of the ice cream & cone that Ben put in his food dish (he kept running away from it... crazy dog!)

"OOh... thats good. Hey-are you watching me?"

At which point he dug in and really enjoyed his treat... licking the bowl CLEAN  (good boy!)

"I'm sensing I have something in my beard?"

 And then he finished! Yum!! With the end of summer approaching soon (or maybe not with the 90' weather we are having lately?) we'll have to try and hit up the ice cream stand around the corner one more time and get both of the boys a treat...
