Frank & Beans are PUMPED that it's the weekend ...
...can you tell??
Clearly they're resting up for some fun adventures... (especially Frank who has escaped from the kitchen AGAIN.... there will be an investigation going on to figure this out...)
Have a great weekend everybody!

Firepit Friends

Those of you who "like" The Daily Frank & Beans on Facebook probably saw the picture we posted yesterday afternoon of Frank "the escape artist" ... we'll get a post up of what we *think* happened soon... plus a few other details.
For those of you who don't have The Daily Frank & Beans on their list of "likes" on Facebook... you should add them soon.. we are going to try and post more pictures on there of them :)

Aaanyways... we recently had a little bonfire going in our little fire pit. Since the chiefs ALWAYS have to be involved we let them hang out on the patio with us (OK.. so they were inside the house and wouldn't stop barking at the door because they knew we were out there... for our sanity we let them join us).
The chiefs were a little jealous that they couldn't lay too close to us but it's all for their safety ;)
 "Marshmallow... ? Please?? Graham cracker??"
While we sipped on beers and toasted up some marshmallow for smores... the chiefs just chillllllled...

Oh and check this out! On a recent trip to a Cincinnati Red's game (I know, we're Tigers fans...) we saw this concession stand... Frank's Franks!!
I'm sure Frank would love to work here...
HA!!

Frankly Speaking

I have a huge backlog of questions from you all but they will have to wait till next week.  This week I've got something very important to discuss - take a deep breadth - I need your full attention.  Today I would like to talk about balanced living.

I recently found a curious looking receipt from a local watering hole.  Whomever visiting this place wasn't there for water from the Spring - as they purchased a great number of something called Hudepohl.

#besthappyhourever

After a quick google search I discovered the Hudepohl (also called Hudy by West Siders) is one of the worlds greatest tasting beers, a tremendous value and was the favorite drink of Benjamin Franklin or maybe it was another Ben - eh whatever.  Anyway, with taste this good you're going to need to do something to offset the carbs - in other words balance out the Hudy's.

Let's stat with some light exercise moves.  Take it from my furry friend in this video - exercise is more fun with you dog involved!

If that's not enough excitement for you then you can take it to the next level with some Prancercise.  Trust me Prancercise is just like Pringle's - once you pop you can't stop!  Here you go - this is a classic!  I love here enthusiasm for life - after doing some Prancercise you can have all the Hudy you want!

Now let's stop talking and do some walking!

Frank's spa day

Check out Frank after his spa-day at the groomers on Friday!!
"Look at me! Look at me! Now can I have that treat they gave me??"
So fresh, so clean! (and SO worn out)
ZZZZzzzzz.....
Check out who WISHES he went to the spa on Friday...
"My momma calls me haaandsome..."
BEEEANS!

Actually poor little Beans was SUPER depressed on Friday while Frank was away...  walking circles around the house and laying at the front door like this..
Yep, his body is turned one way and his head is turned the other... so .... unique

Once Frank walked through the door the world was all good again... hope everyone had a good weekend!!

Take Your Dog to Work Day

Happy Friday!
Not sure if you guys are aware or not, but today is Take Your Dog To Work Day!

I'm SURE F&B would be SUPER pumped to go into work with one of us but that probably wouldn't go over too well.
"Is it snack time yet??"

Can you even imagine the work (or lack of) that would get done??

Instead of taking Frank & Beans TO work, let's PUT them to work!

Frank is looking for some questions & advice to give in his Tuesday Frankly Speaking columns... and Beans would LOVE to see some jokes/comics/funnies from you that he can share!! Send them an eMail !!! Get creative!

Have a great weekend!
{Frank's weekend is going to start off GREAT because in just a few hours we're walkin' him on down to the groomers for a spa day...hehehe...}

Favorite Tigers

So we've been watching a lot of Detroit Tigers baseball lately (big surprise, I know).
Over the weekend we were watching and asked the chiefs who their favorite players were...

Frank eagerly said that Prince Fielder is his favorite... He says that they're both a little .. uh... 'husky' but can still move FAST...

Beans pondered the question and then said that Miguel Cabrera would be his favorite... why? They both have the same hair 'do!

 {ok this might be slightly exaggerated.... and was from a time when Beans was in desperate need of a grooming...}

AND isn't it just so cute that Frank & Beans are BFFs just like Prince & Miggy?!? Frank & Beans don't have the skills to make up their own handshake...

.. but you can still see their loving bromance!

Two Dogs in a Little Cage...

Over the weekend I was doing some cleaning around the house... washing Frank's bed... etc..
I couldn't find the little chiefs (usually they're right at our feet). I finally see them both sitting together.

...in Frank's cage...
"what.. "
Beans cage.. right "next door" was wide open with plenty of blankets, pillows and other comforts. I figured this wouldn't long...

... 45 minutes later..
"May I help you?"

Ahhh brotherly love...

Frankly Speaking

Quattro from Detroit writes in this week:  "Dear Frank, I saw Kim Kardashian just had her baby.  I'm curious if you have any recommendations for trashy reality TV's shows."

Let me be clear - the only thing worth watching on Kim's show is Bruce Jenner - that man is an American Hero - he does have a gold medal and was a spokesman for Wheaties - what a guy!

OK, he doesn't quite look like the box - like me he 'had some work done'.

Anyway, while Kanye is tied up taking care of his new baby I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you some of my other favorite rappers since Kanye will be out of the game for awhile.

Ok you all may remember the enigmatic DMX from the late 90's.  Beans and I really like his music because he is always talking about his dogs and barking - thanks for the shout out!  He likes pitbulls though so be careful - those guys are a bit scary for a little guy like me!  Note: this song is edited as the DMX does have a bit of a potty mouth.

I also really like Snoop Dogg.  I heard he changed his name to Snoop Lion which I'm not crazy about - given my aversion to cats (big or small) but I'm willing to overlook it so long as he keeps coming out with great tunes like this one.  Sometimes he even has songs with a guy named Nate Dogg (RIP).

To answer your question Quattro, I only watch Jerry Spring (watch local aka he is more Cincinnati than Hudy Delight).  Also, his Closing Thoughts are always very relevant to my life..Hopefully he decides to run for Mayor in 2014 as he is a Pro at solving complicated issues in 60 minutes or less.

Take Care of Yourself and Each Other!

Frank's special birthday treat

I mentioned last week in Frank's birthday recap about another special treat Frank (& Beans) had... here it is
PUPSICLES!!
What are 'pupsicles' you ask? Chicken broth (+ a little more water) frozen with a treat stick in the middle! {In this case the treat sticks are "Organic Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Recipe Sticks" ... yuuummmm}. Popped 'em in the freezer for a couple hours.. and BAM... pupsicle...
The pupsicle for Beans had a slight.. uh.. issue...... as if that was really going to matter...
A perfect treat for a hot day, especially after a nice, long walk!
After Frank got his pupsicle... he went to TOWN on it...
YUMMYYY
Beans really enjoyed his, too!!
Ever since they had their pupsicles... every time we go outside on the patio they HAVE to stop and lick these spots .... chicken flavored pavers I guess... yummmm
I think we'll be making a lot of these this summer...

Fabulous Friday

It's Friday....

.. and Frank is pumped!!!
Frank says that if anybody goes on any walks this weekend, be sure to read (or re-read) his advice from this past week about how to get the most out of your walk.

Have a fun weekend!

Cat Walk Part II

Remember the cat shelter that is right by our house??
We've been by there a few times recently on some of our walks... and  a few days ago we let Beans get up close and personal with the cats in the rooms along the side of the building :)

{unfortunately we didn't get a reaction from either Beans OR the cats... :( }

Nap time for Beans

Here's a cute pic of little Beans I got over the weekend. He was curled up in some blankets on one of our chairs.. just chillin' in the sun.

"I'd like to resume my nap, please"

Frankly Speaking

This week I got a note from my neighbor from around the way.  Bootsie the Dachshund from my hood writes in "Dear Frank - you might remember me when you were on a walk the other day.  I was the dachshund in the window in the corner house barking affectionately as you and Bean's strutted by.  There are a lot of dogs walking their owner but none quite like you - any advice for a successful dog walk?".

Dear Bootsie - love the name - reminds me of a friend of mine; legend of funk, Bootsy Collins.  A local favorite!

Bean's love's his Big YELLOW coat and sheriff star on the hat. #winning

I digress - ok so yes - successful walks.  There isn't enough time to write all of my secrets but you can catch them all in Chapter 3 of my forthcoming book: 7 Habit's of Highly Effective Canines (published by Random Dog House; pre-order on Amazon soon).

Lesson 1 - Don't step on the cracks.  People joke about not stepping on cracks because it breaks peoples backs or something.  This is a real public health issue with dachshunds - you could blow out a paw (or step on a pop top and have to cruise on back home!).

Lesson 2 - Eat before you go - or at least keep your eyes out for scraps left behind.  Once I found a bag of hamburger buns - you should have seen my dad try to pry them out of my mouth.  And they said dogs should eat dog food - after people food?

Seriously - get me a cheeseburger!

Lesson 3 - Pick a leader for the walk.  I've spoken with Bean's before about the pack mentality.  Every pack needs a leader and followers.  Walks can get tense if you are trying to be the pack leader if I am involved.  Ask my owners - I lead them & Bean's!  Note: Leading also means you can spot food scraps first and maybe even get ahold of them!

See you out there on the streets Bootsie - make us Doxie's proud!

Happy Birthday Frank!

Over the weekend Frank celebrated his 4th "birthday" {aka: adoption anniversary and best guess for his age ;) }. He had a super fun and exciting day...
We started off the day with PRESENTS!!
A lizard-looking squeaky toy, a Kong squeaky bone & some Greenies!!
(ok, the Greenies were more of a necessity than a birthday gift but what the heck....why not give it as a birthday gift)
I know what's in there... can you let me in please???
Of course who gets to the green lizard first? Beans...
Bless his little heart, but he can't have any fabric/stuff squeaky toy because he's too destructive with them (moments after this pic was taken he ripped Lizard's arm off.....)
 {...missing arm.. }

The Kong-squeaky-bone is by far Frank's favorite, though... I couldn't even get a picture of him with it! {we got the Kong-bone with Beans in mind since it looked more durable........ see above}
He would have played with it ALL DAY if he could, but I can only handle the squeaking of the boy for so long.. PLUS we had other things to do ....

... like take a birthday walk! And seriously, what birthday walk isn't complete without a fashionable bow tie....
Frank got so many compliments and smiles from people on the walk for looking so fashionable :)

.... he didn't even want to take the tie off (as if he had a choice.....)... here we are later that night watchin' the Tigers game (shout out to those AWESOME Tigers who swept the Indians over the weekend, too!)
"They told me that after this game is over we can watch Beverly Hills Chihuahua... "

And then we finished off with a special treat (to be shared later this week... stay tuned!!!!)
All in all I'd say Frank had a pretty good day! Happy Monday!
